Road racers, cycle tourists and families with trailer-bikes all mix on the rolling lanes and dramatic moorland climbs of the Tweed Valley.
Sustrans National Route 1 passes through the Tweed heading for Edinburgh at Innerleithen, a key stop on the Coasts and Castles route and a favourite break on many an end to end journey.
The Tweed Cycleway guides cyclists around Peebles, Walkerburn, Peel and beyond at a more leisurely pace.
Cycling Weekly magazine describes top UK racer Evan Oliphant’s favourite training ride as it heads through Peebles and back through Traquair via an epic climb at Talla as one of the best road rides in Britain and this is now part of the famous Gore Sportive route.
More pro racers will grace the Tweed Valley as a leg of the Tour of Britain is starting in Peebles, home to Peebles Cycling Club which runs regular weekend rides and TTs.
