Barony Castle, an imposing 16th Century Scottish Manor house set in 25 acres of beautiful gardens and mature woodland.

Barony Castle is located 17miles south of Edinburgh on the edge of the Scottish Borders and only 10 minuets from the famous Glentress and Innerleithen mountain bike trails.  Barony dates back to the 16th Century where it was owned by the Murray & Elibank Family, over the years it’s been a private family home, a hotel, it’s also been occupied by the Polish army during World War II and then back to a residential hotel.  It is said that Mary Queen of Scots, Bonnie Prince Charlie and Sir Walter Scott have all passed through “The Black Barony” (as previous named).

Barony Castle combines all the elegance and warmth of a traditional Scottish Manor House with a wide range of facilities, which include:- Indoor Pool, Sauna, spa Bath, Gym, Ropes Course, 5 A-side Pitch plus 25 Acres of beautiful Gardens and Woodland.  There is also a wide range of Conference and Function Rooms, which are suitable for any event or function.

There are 78 bedrooms which make up Barony’s accommodation, ranging from Singles, Twins, Doubles plus 3 Superior Rooms, there’s a relaxing modern Lounge/Bar where our bar manager may tempt you into sampling a wee dram from our extensive Whisky collection.  Borders Restaurant awaits you for dinner and breakfast, where you will find both menu’s extremely hard to choose from.

Barony also offers additional facilities for Cyclists and Mountain Bikers: Secure Bike Storage, Bike Wash, Maintenance Table, Drying Room and local Trail Maps, we also offer Pack Lunches for the following day (additional charge and prior notice required).
