Sustrans National Route 1 passes through the Tweed heading for Edinburgh at Innerleithen, a key stop on the Coasts and Castles route and a favourite break on many an end to end journey. The Tweed Cycleway guides cyclists around Peebles, Walkerburn, Peel and beyond at a more leisurely pace.

According to Cycling Weekly magazine, the Tweed Valley even boasts one of the best road rides in Britain! The Tweed Valley will hold stage 1 of The Tour of Britain in 2011.  The UK's Premier Cycle Race will take place between 11th-18th September 2011. The race will see the cream of international cycling talent battle it out on the roads of the UK for the coveted leader’s jersey. The Grand Depart will start from the town centre of Peebles on Sunday 11th September 2011.  If you dream of taking part then The Tour Ride takes place the week before on Sunday, 4th September.

Peebles is home to Peebles Cycling Club which runs regular weekend rides and TTs.
