This imposing 16th century castle has evolved into a traditional welcoming hotel, conference & wedding venue with restaurant, bar and leisure facilities. Located just 35 minutes (17 miles) south of Edinburgh on the edge of the Scottish Borders. The lovely town of Peebles, which sits on the banks of the celebrated River Tweed, is only a 10-minute drive away.

Explore the many bike and walk routes in nearby Glentress Forest, visit the grand Traquair House, or discover the Great Polish Map located in the 25 acres surrounding the hotel. Rosslyn Chapel and the Go Ape treetop adventure course are also just a short drive from the castle estate.

Barony Castle Hotel offers 72 bedrooms featuring single and double as well as family rooms, privilege rooms and junior & superior suites. The welcoming bedrooms offer all home comforts, a child-friendly environment and dogs are allowed in a limited amount of bedrooms. Every room is unique with differing views of the surrounding castle estate, garden and glen.

Start your evening in the Blue Dug Bar or Murray Lounge with a cocktail or a dram from our extensive range of malt whiskies whilst pondering the seasonal menu prepared by our Executive Chef William Thomson. Constructed with local produce, individual tastes and dietary requirements in mind.

The Murray Lounge is the newest addition to Barony Castle. Located next to the Elibank Suite on the ground floor, it offers a cosy log fire on cold nights and comfortable lounge seating all year around. Serving local beers and food from the Blue Dug Bar all day, the lounge is equipped with not only three 58-inch flat screens to watch up to three different sports events at one time, but also with a PS4 and Xbox.

Our leisure spa includes a 10-metre pool with whirlpool bath, thermal experience showers, sauna, heated loungers and two beauty treatment rooms. The gym has a range of Technogym equipment.

For wedding planners, Barony Castle has stunning grounds and the opportunities to capture your special day are endless. Say ‘I do’ outside with your ceremony in the castle courtyard or at the altar located at the foot of Yew Tree Avenue. Alternatively we offer the Elibank Suite – a stunning conservatory flooded with natural light.
