The Horseshoe Restaurant with Rooms has eight small but charming en-suite bedrooms in the former Victorian schoolhouse situated a short walk behind the restaurant.

The Horseshoe is a restaurant with rooms that looks after a small number of guests at a time, but those guests are looked after very, very well. Situated just over 30 minutes from Edinburgh Airport or 45 minutes from the city centre, the restaurant lies in the village of Eddleston just outside the medieval market town of Peebles. The Tweed Valley is noted for its unspoilt natural beauty and is appreciated for its magnificent walks, cycling (mountain biking and road), salmon fishing, golf and more.

You’ll see the former schoolhouse when you pull into the Horseshoe’s private car park. If staying overnight, please leave your luggage in your car, come to the main entrance to check-in and we’ll then bring your luggage to your bedroom for you. While the restaurant is on the main road to Peebles, the bedrooms are sited well off the road, so there is no traffic noise at night.

The bedrooms are rated 4 Gold Stars by the AA Guide. Although modest in size, all have en-suite showers, bathrobes, luxurious local handmade organic toiletries, mineral water, tea and coffee making trays with fresh milk, fresh fruit and homemade cake.

We consider the first meal of the day to be as important as dinner, and are delighted to have received an award from the AA Guide for our outstanding breakfasts for the past three years in a row.

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday. And with everything cooked fresh, menus change daily. Having been reviewed in The Times, The Scotsman and many other national and international newspapers and magazines, the Horseshoe has become southern Scotland's most sought-after, boutique fine-dining destination. Booking is essential, especially at weekends.

You’ll find a local guide written by the General Manager in your bedroom with suggestions for walks and sight-seeing, along with numerous novels and Scottish travel books. Bring a book with you to the lounge and curl up in front of the wood-burning stove and plan your time in the Scottish Borders.

Please note that we are closed Mondays & Tuesdays and don’t take overnight bookings on Sundays. We close for two weeks for staff holidays in July and January. Please check our website for details.
