The FriendsLife Tour of Britain is the UK's premier cycle race, with the cream of international cycling talent battling it out on the roads of the UK for the coveted leader's jersey. In 2013, the Grand Depart started from Peebles town centre for Stage 1 of the Tour.
In 2015, the UK's biggest road cycling race will pass through the Borders once again, with the town of Kelso providing the backdrop to a stage finish. Stage 3, which starts in Cumbria on 8 September, passes through Newcastleton, Hawick, Selkirk, Tweedbank, Melrose and St Boswells before a final stretch through Kelso with a finish in the grounds of Floors Castle. The race resumes a day later from Holyrood Park in Edinburgh. Stage 4 will pass through the centre of the city before the world’s top riders head into East Lothian and then through Duns and Coldstream to Northumberland.
