The Eastgate Theatre and Arts Centre
Since it first opened its doors in March 2004, the Eastgate Theatre and Arts Centre has become a well-loved part of the Peebles landscape, and a lively hub for arts activities in the Scottish Borders.
Over the past few years the theatre has established itself as a platform both for established acts and for emerging talent, with a year round performance programme which ranges across music, drama, dance, comedy, and family shows. Highlights so far have included Candido Fabre, The Wilders, Karine Polwart, Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham, Peebles Food Festival and Pam Ayres to name a few.
There is a caledar of exhibitions in the studio, a popular film programme in the main auditorium, and a busy schedule of community events. There are also regular classes in art, dance, drama and music throughout much of the year, and occasional workshops aiming to encourage participation in the arts by people of all ages.
The Eastgate’s easily accessible foyer café is a popular meeting place for local residents and visitors alike and is open for sandwiches, light lunches and teas and coffees from 10am-5pm Mon-Sat and from 1pm on film Sundays.
Our suppliers include Coco Black, Kingsmeadows Catering and fairtrade, organic coffee from Green Mountain.
