Broughton Ales

Broughton Ales Ltd is a small, independent brewery, located in the Scottish Borders on the A701 between Moffat and Edinburgh.

Founded in 1980 Broughton was one of the first of the new wave of micro brewers to open up in Scotland.

Champion Double Ale

Champion Double Ale is a unique blend of two "Beers with Character". A classic Scottish Strong Ale is blended with a high quality Stout.

The strong warming flavour of the Strong Ale is enhanced by the rich roasted flavours of the Stout.

The resulting complex blend of flavours is beautifully balanced by the excellent hop character found in both beers.

The winner of the TESCO Beer Challenge for winter 2006, this fine ale takes on the double characters of two knights from the era of the "Border Reivers" during the reign of King David of Scotland.

Champion Double Ale was announced as a winner in the "World's 50 Best Beers" in the 2007 International Beer Challenge competition.

About 65% of Broughton's volume goes into bottles which are available in supermarkets and off-licences throughout Scotland as well as specialist beer outlets in the rest of the UK.

Gift packs of "Beers With Character" are sold through the John Lewis Group and a number of other gift outlets.

Broughton Ales Ltd produce 12 different bottled beers, including two organic beers, an own label product for WAITROSE and two beers for MARKS AND SPENCER.

As well as this Broughton produce 18 cask ales and their mixed gas keg beer, Broughton Best.
