Neidpath Castle is a romantic, attractive medieval castle, Wedding and Function Venue, and popular film location. Situated in the heart of Scotland's Tweed Valley, open to the public for over 50 Years, much admired for its authenticity and historical insights.
The castle is a bona fide 14th century four storey stone L-plan tower renowned as one of the grandest Tweed Valley Tower Houses. Former home of Fraser Hay and Douglas families converted to tower house in 17th century. With 11 foot thick stone walls, the castle contains a pit prison, a hand-cut draw well, Queen Mary's room, Laigh hall with displays.
The Great hall has stunningly beautiful batiks depicting the "Life of Mary Queen of Scots". The castle is entered through the remains of an interesting gatehouse, with a round-headed arch.
Available all year round as a unique function venue. We can seat a maximum of 60 people. Standard booking is for 2 hours. Religious and civil ceremonies are held Laigh Hall which retains its original barrel vaulted ceiling. The Great Hall is available for drink receptions, decorated with wood panelling and plastered ceilings.
The
wonderful wooded gorge of River Tweed provides unique character and stunning
locations for wedding ceremonies with beautiful scenery, spectacular location
for photographs.
