Scotland’s Future: Sustainable Tourism events start in the Tweed Valley
VisitScotland held its first sustainable tourism event last week, Thursday 11th February in the Tweed Valley at the Macdonald Cardrona Hotel. The events have been planned to help businesses understand how sustainable practices can improve their bottom line and in turn aid growth in Scottish tourism.
The free workshop provided an opportunity for tourism businesses to interact with experts, through workshop sessions and expert consultancy support including Joe Hind from Waste Aware Business and Jennie Hurst from BEP. Experts were joined by a number of sustainability champions including Paul Easto from Wilderness Scotland and Pete Ritchie from Whitmuir Organics.
Further innovative and interactive events are to be held throughout Scotland and are aimed aimed at small to medium-sized businesses across all sectors from bed and breakfasts, historic houses and visitor attractions. The events will develop a greater understanding and awareness of sustainable tourism and its benefits.
